The Challenge:
Experience the world through fiction. Why fiction? Reading is associated with better social cognition, it builds empathy, and I enjoy it. I'm also a millennial and international travel with a 9-5 and two kids isn't in the cards.
The Rules:
- My full itinerary is logged on my Novels Around the World Map. Each country is represented by at least one novel or short story, but many have multiple volumes associated with them.
- Each title is set in, based on, can be linked to, or written by someone from the location it represents.
- Due to my limited capacities, all books in this project are available in English.
- Whenever possible, native authors will be included on the itinerary of each nation. Titles by native authors are marked with an asterisk in the Travel Log for each nation (linked below).
- Some Travel Logs may include Side Quests. These are titles that duplicate specific locations, have a non-specific setting in a given nation, or take place in multiple nations. These titles are sourced from my personal library.
- Some Travel Logs include Inspo reading. These are mini-reading projects inspired by books from my official itineraries or side quests. These are usually compare/contrast or series reads.
- There is no timeline for this challenge. It will take forever and I'm okay with that.
