These writers are popular for good reason, and their work is well worth your time and attention. What I want you to note, however, is that all of these popular authors are known for works published through traditional channels. Traditional publishing is great, but traditional publishers operate within specific guidelines and are very selective about the projects they back. It's a business, and I respect that, but I am also drawn to the unbridled creativity of those who play by their own rules.
That's right, folks, I'm referring to indies.
Self-published novels and those published by independent presses, don't get the same attention as traditionally published titles. There are many reasons for this, but the whys and wherefores are a topic for another day. For now, I simply want to draw attention to titles launched without corporate backing, market strategists, or national advertising campaigns.

This desire is the inspiration for 100 Indies, a personal reading project that spotlights indie historical fiction. The goal is simple: read and review 100 independently published titles in my favorite genre. As always, there is no timeline for this project. I simply love the idea and think it a fun way to tackle my TBR.
